Despite ABTS 2021 concluding on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, day 3 was still filled with enriching and thought-provoking sessions. The day began with the BTE Youth Leadership Council’s (YLC) Wellness Webinar, which was designed by BTE youth for BTE youth. This session was facilitated by this year’s BTE YLC council members and touched upon mental health, fitness and nutrition, and time management. Afterwards, while Student Ambassadors were working on final touches to their showcase presentations, adult partners reconnected with ABTS Keynote, Dr. Raquel Garzon for a session that explored the neuroscience of leading. During this session, Dr. Garzon shared findings from Student Ambassador surveys and provided insights on how BTE leaders can foster resiliency in BTE youth. Johnson & Johnson hosted an engaging session that explored BTE in 2052. In recognition of BTE’s 30 anniversary, program partners discussed ways in which BTE can further develop in the future while remaining true to the heart and impact of the program. ABTS concluded with an ABTS favorite- the Student Ambassador Showcase. During this year’s ABTS, 16 Student Ambassadors from 7 BTE sites across the globe were challenged with conducting a site needs assessment and developing an innovation to help address that need. Ambassadors did an incredible job developing project management workplans with budgets, along with prototypes of their innovations. Live polling was conducted and the winning team will receive funding to help bring their innovation to life in 2022, helping to kick-start BTE 30 Years Global Giveback initiative!
